More About Me

Hello and welcome. However you happened to stumble upon this little thought-doodle book of mine, I'm glad you did. My name is Lindsey Hayob (Heb), but most people stick with Hayob.

Here you will find a wide variety of thoughts thrown into a series of words I try to string together with hopeful accuracy - as close as you can get to explaining reality with words - but first, here's a little bit about me.

I recently graduated from what I think were some of the most transformative years of my life at TCU in Fort Worth, Texas. I went around the major block before I committed to studying Child Development and Education which set me on course to joining Teach For America this year and teaching high school English in rural Louisiana.

This is my family... most of them at least. Above on the far left is my best friend and older sister Lexi, my cheesy yet cool dad Mike, his bubbly wife Mistie, and her three incredible kids/my step-siblings, Kenzie, Rilee, and Gracie. In January of 2009 our Brady Bunch came together and has been living our beautifully chaotic adventure full of dance parties, chips and queso, and over-sensitive family game nights ever since. They are the reason I believe in the power of blended families and marital reconciliation.

Below is my selfless and fun-loving mom who has provided me with anything and everything regardless of the personal sacrifice attached. She continuously teaches me about caring and loving people through action while doing what you love. That's the purpose of this blog.

Those two awesome parents raised me wonderfully in a southern, Christian home with plenty of opportunities, but it wasn't until June of 2010 that I truly understood the person of Jesus Christ and the full life that He offers me, so in a club room similar to this one filled with hundreds of teenagers, I made a decision to pursue a relationship with Him daily after a life-changing week at a Young Life camp in North Carolina.

I've remained involved with Young Life as a leader for Fort Worth Young Life, Young Life College, and Baton Rouge Young Life with the hopes of beautifully interrupting kids lives through an unexpected, adventurous, and dependable friendship that points them toward the love and fulfillment found in Jesus. I get to unnecessarily participate in an insanely fun, crazy, and devoted ministry that allows me to dress up as strange skit characters, sing and dance obnoxiously on a weeknight, and simply be a kid with eternal intention.

In 2015, God called me and a few friends to take over a backyard ministry we like to call House of Worship. What started as a group of friends worshipping in a living room has turned into some of our favorite nights of college, worshipping to an acoustic set with hundreds of friends. It's my favorite way to spend a Friday night, and I still don't understand why I get to be a part of it.

I am passionate about Young Life, music, creative writing, positive humor, and the inclusivity of everyone, all of which spurs from an innate passion for people and loving them through positive leadership and empowerment. Black, white, hispanic, smart, rich, poor, shy, hilarious, disabled or socially accepted, I enjoy finding the commonalities among all people - a mutual Creator at minimum.

I am on staff with the Louisiana Youth Seminar, a high school leadership program aimed specifically toward Louisiana's youth while hoping to affect the global community. For a week every summer on LSU's campus, I get to witness hundreds of high school students from every walk of life come together to find a common purpose while leading them through team-building, communicative leadership, and goal-setting activities in an assured positive and encouragement environment. I get to give back to a program that changed my outlook on myself and the influence that I can have on the world while watching others find their own leadership potential.

That's my story so far.

What's yours?
